Let's start with the living room! We have our TV set up with it's stand, the bookcase in place and loaded with our movies and Wii games, and we have an end table in the other corner. I'm not sure the end table will stay there but it works for now and gives us a place to keep our laptops... Just ignore those wood boards... You don't see them!!
One thing that is still missing in our living room is.. well.. furniture! However, the accent chair and pillows are available for pick-up and I'll be getting them later today! The sectional is finally available as well! We just found out yesterday but aren't sure when we will be having it delivered. In the meantime, we've been hanging out on "floor bed" (i.e. the air mattress). We also need to find a new home for the wood for the balcony!
I'd like to take a minute to show off the coasters that I got for my birthday! My sis-in-law, Kate, made me the coasters pictured to the right! The coasters to the left were from Etsy and I pinned them on Pinterest. Kate saw the pin and made me some just like the Etsy post - they are square ceramic tiles with felt backing and are sealed to be water-proof! They are even the perfect color - just a hint of blue!
Time to move on to the dining room! If you'll take notice, you'll see that the rug that we caulked the other day is now in place under the dining room table. The table fits great in the space - we could go a bit bigger but our small-ish table allows plenty of walking space. We tried the table turned in both directions but liked having it positioned as shown because it gave the most walking room.I still love the coloring of the rug - I may love it even more now that it's in place! The hints of red tie in the centerpiece, the hints of blue tie in the blue trim, the hints of brown tie in the dark wood of the table, and the overall light beige color really accents the beautiful wood floors!
If you look, the "Kalis" sign is still on the mantel. A little pumpkin and a Halloween candle also found their way onto the mantel... We need to decide what else will decorate the mantel. I really want to hang a wedding picture higher up on the mantel. I even have an idea which one, but, regardless, it has to be a landscape-oriented picture to fit the space...
We also found a clock that would look great on the mantel. I'm just not certain it will fit because the mantel is really shallow. The clock isn't big - it's only 4" deep, but I need to measure the mantel before we order anything! I love the birds, of course, but I appreciate that it also has the branches! All of the letter photos in the "Kalis" sign have some sort of tree or branch in the photo somewhere so it will all tie together. Not to mention, I have various other "bird and branch" decor items - our wedding reception centerpieces, a wrought iron candle holder, etc.
The final bit to show you is the "doggie area" (ignore my laptop - it was charging in case we lost power due to the hurricane! We decided that the little nook in the dining room was a good spot for the doggie's beds and toys. We originally had the dog bowls in that spot, but Aaron didn't want to risk them dripping too much on the nice wood floors - the bowls have been moved to the kitchen where the laminate is less likely to be damaged and cheaper to replace if it is damaged!
More pictures will be sure to follow as we get more and more stuff set up and as we complete our little projects around the house!
